How does the WTS explain away THIS scripture?

i'm honestly in awe about this particular scripture (and honestly i can't keep thanking jwfacts enough for providing biblical contradictions to the jw doctrine!).

"john said to him: "teacher, we saw a certain man expelling demons by the use of your name and we tried to prevent him, because he was not accompanying us.

" but jesus said: "do not try to prevent him, for there is no one that will do a powerful work on the basis of my name that will quickly be able to revile me; for he that is not against us is for us.

Bottom line is that a Christian is a Christian - regardless of the cult's opinions!

Here's a hypothetical scenario which I've rehearsed in my mind and plan to use if/when I meet my still-in friend:

Me: If I asked you what your religion is, what would you say?

J.W. friend: Why, Jehovah's Witness of course!

Me: No, your religion is Christianity. Hence the reason why you're a Christian! Your denomination is J.W.

J.W. friend: Mumble, mumble, mumble. (can't deny the terms Christian & Christianity)

Me: So if I asked you tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, what your religion is, how would you answer?

J.W. friend: (reluctantly) Christian I suppose.

If it occurs, I will post the actual response.

Some Good News About Me (Although Anthony Morris Will Be Furious)

just wanted to share with you some good news i'm really excited about.

i have been accepted for university to study psychology and counseling.

my goal is to become a counselor and, in time, to specialize on treating those who have left high control relationships/groups like we all did.. it'll take a few years before im qualified but studying in university has been a dream of mine since i was 12, which was systematically dashed to pieces by watchtower.. .

the second astronomer royal of edinburgh was charles piazzi smyth (jan. 1819 - feb. 1900).

smyth was a man of many and varied interests including meteorology, producing weather observations that still form an important part of uk climate records to this day.. building on the work of james taylor, smyth became fascinated by the great pyramid of egypt at giza.

when i joined this site at the beginning of this year, i was serving as an uber-zealous regular pioneer and ms in a foreign congregation where the need is greater.

i was giving public talks and having parts at regional conventions.

had started to have doubts but i hadn't time to focus on them, i simply was overcharged with so many activities and things to do.. i started by quitting pioneering but couldn't think i would give further steps for a long time.

I seriously admire and applaud you Skepsis.

It's a daunting task for most faders to accelerate their exit rapidly and smoothly, but you're dealing with it very astutely by replying to the inquisitors with "humble & apologetic" answers which tell them nothing. That's exactly what they want to hear, as opposed to hearing you suffer from doubts, questions, or even (God forbid!) "independent thinking." Keep it going.

The org condemns H.E. out of one side of their mouth, but begs for minions with degrees to help build up their real estate empire with the other side.

He cited this reference from the "Shepherd the Flock of God" which effectively tells J.W.'s that "God's" [the org's] wonderful disfellowshipping restrictions only apply to those who do not live in the same home as their "loyal" family members. Virtually all family contact is only forbidden by God when a d/f'd individual lives in a different building!

Page 116, par. 6. "If members of the congregation are known to have undue association with disfellowshipped or disassociated relatives who are not in the household, elders should counsel and reason with those members of the congregation from the Scriptures. Review with them information from the "God's Love book, pages 207-208; The Watchtower of April 15 1988, pages 26-30; or the article "Display Christian Loyalty When a Relative Is Disfellowshipped” in the August 2002 Our Kingdom Ministry. If it is clear that a Christian is violating the spirit of the disfellowshipping decree in this regard and does not respond to counsel, it may be that he would not qualify for congregation privileges, which require one to be exemplary. He would not be dealt with judicially unless there is persistent spiritual association or he openly criticizes the disfellowshipping decision."

This "demon inspired" teaching hasn't dawned on very many J.W.'s yet. It's only forum topics like this which can encourage them to take a step back and question things for themselves.

i thought that wt would have started doing this, but i have not noticed any posts before.. can anyone confirm (post is from fb)?.

so i have been looking up these different articles to read for myself...one problem.the last time we got a disc was 2015 and i used my mil's disc to down load it to my computer.

they did a update to it last year over the internet, the program updated it's self.

Got gas pump witnessed this morning.

so on our way to hospital today i see a car load of jehovah's pull up to a pump a row over.

i thought to myself, "not now!!

" we were running late to nicu and of course these dummy's take this moment to drive up to give us some good news.

Ask some J.W.'s how long they've been "in the truth."

For all those who say they have been J.W.'s more than 5 years, firmly remind them that what was "truth" then is no longer "truth" now. The "body of truth" they had to study & accept in order to qualify for their dedication & baptism, was actually gangrenous at that time (and prior!) with lies/inaccuracies/conjecture, and had to be substituted with reversed truths - not enlightened ones.

Or simply ask them, "Who or what told you that God did not choose the Mormon Quorum of 12 Prophets, the Roman Catholic Church's Pope, or the Archbishop of Canterbury as his agent/s, but instead, opted for the WTBTS of Pennsylvania?"

Scriptural proof would be a good place to start!
